Region/Country: Region/Land: West Fjords, Iceland
Fjord in the Northwest of Iceland, and an important trading harbour for German merchants, who sailed to it under the name Iseforde in Schiffelsforde (which refers to Skötufjörður, a fjord to the East of Ísafjörður). Likely, the entire Northern part of the Northwestern peninsula of Iceland was meant here, i.e. the area around the fjord Ísafjarðardjúp.
